About Us

Named after the lord of Seven Hills in Tirupati, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park has been established on modern concepts of Zoo Management where in the animals are exhibited in wider and near natural enclosures resembling their natural habitat. With an inscription at the entrance “Beejam maam sarvabhootanam” – I am the eternal seed of all creation” which means that God exists in all living beings, the message of nature conservation with all its diversity is conveyed emphasizing the role of animal and plant life in Indian mythology and culture.

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park is developed on Mythological theme.

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park spreads over an area of 1254.71 hectares in which 289 hectares is developed so far. Presently, zoo houses 31 species of mammals, 46 species of birds and 7 species of reptiles.

  • Conservation and breeding of endangered species:
    •  Conservation and breeding of endangered fauna with special focus on the Eastern Ghats.
  •  Conservation education and awareness:
    •  Promote conservation education and awareness through interpretation of importance of flora and fauna in Indian mythology and culture.
  •  Research for Conservation:
    •  Propagating research and scientific study on animal behaviour, diseases and their control, feed, nutrition and reproductive biology. The knowledge so gained can be used for the proper management of the wild fauna both ex-situ and in-situ.
  •  Rescue and rehabilitation:
    •  To maintain the orphaned, seized. rescued, injured wild animals and rehabilitate them into the wild making sure the traumatized animals have a strong chance of survival.
